WHHhhhhhoooooosshhhhh
The sound of life passing me by *sigh* ....errr ....as you were ....... Headed off this weekend to Brockwell park with Gaya to experience the fun filled day that is the Lambeth Country Fair - didn't see as much as we did last year but it was still good fun, although we did go on more rides than we normally do. And a momentous occasion as I bought Gaya her first fizzy drink as unfortunately she has finally acquired a taste for them. It's going to be a while before I do that again as a quarter of the bottle in and I can see the sugar high already kicking in :-) We were supposed to be up early on Sunday to get Gaya to another Capoeira session but somehow we managed to sleep through the bloody alarm, so had a lazy day instead and went to see Over The Hedge which wasn't too bad - a few chuckles to be had. 29/06/06
Gaya's luck strikes again. We went to the school fete on Saturday and I gave her the usual excuse for not buying raffle tickets as we never win and she was just luck the last time she won first prize. However it was nice sunny day so I relented and she only went and won first prize again. My credibility is ripped to threads now, how am I supposed to maintain her unquestioning obedience when the fates keep playing these cruel tricks on me proving my falibility in so graphic a manner that even an 8yr old can understand them.
Apart from that everything else still sucks,or maybe that's just the sciatica influencing my mood, it's a bastard affliction I can tell you, obviously not the end of the world but it's getting damn frustrating nonetheless. 22/06/06
Went to go and see Fuerzabruta on Friday night - an amazing showand well worth seeing - it seemde to be missing something that the De La Guarda crew had but I can't quite place my finger on it, still the hour and bit went really quickly could have doen with it being a bit longer. Took Gaya along to a Capoeira class at the acadamy on Sunday as we had a guest instructor over from Brazil, unfortunately I could not join in due to the back but Gaya did and seemed to enjoy it. 15/06/06
People from Trinidad and Tobago are called Trinbagonians. Last weekend with it's beautiful sunny weather saw Gaya and at the Barnes Wetland Centre,a nice bit of fresh air and greenery in the middle of winter 22/05/06
Durban, well Ballito actually, had some really nice waterspouts out to sea over the weekend - good to see nature doing it's thing. Just click on the small image to see a few more.

Gaya was recounting her weekend last night and telling me about her game with her friend where they had the Harry Potter toys out and were playing nicely, as little girls do. She then mentioned she left the room for some reason and when she came back in she started to laugh, her friend then asked why and her answer was "It looks like Harry is having sex with the pig". It turns out it looked like Harry was just kissing the pig.....

I had my first day back at training on Friday, after 4-5 months off because of this bastard back, and it felt good to be doing something again. I'm only allowed light training for a while but even that is better than nothing, combined with the swimming I'm starting to feel a bit more human again. Now if I take it nice and slowly this time and look after myself I might actaully get back into the swing of things properly instead of lasting a week or two before succumbing again
Took Gaya to see Zathura on Saturday and this was the first time to see her nervous/scared in a movie, hiding behind my arm when this lizard creatures appeared on the screen :-D More inspired commentary on life will inevitably follow .... 01/03/06
well they say today is the first day of spring, supposedly chosen at random to make keeping records easier. Tell that to the Polar Bears wandering down Oxford Street. It's damn cold. That's all for the weather and back to you Derek.
Finally got myself a much needed haircut now it's just shoulder length again but the fun part was getting Gaya to cut my hair. I beleive she enjoyed herself Had some vouchers for discounted meals so Nelly and I tried out Cafe Fish in Soho. Overpriced and underwhelming as far as the food went. I've had far better pub meals for a fraction of the price. Oh well so much for being experimental :-D 23/02/06
Spent the evening of the 21st in the Revolution Bar in Soho, some trendy hangout for the locals where they server various flavours of Vodka - most interesting one was the shot of chilli vodka - quite tasty. I was joined by Phil, Fuzz, Otto, Bonnie and Suna with Steph (both from work) making a guest appearance. Drank a fair bit, as you do but it seemed to take it's toll on Phil, shame I think he's starting to feel his age. Spent the next day in bed with a cold but at least got to sleep and wrap up warm. Gaya has been given an early birthday present of a PS2 so that kept me company during the course of the day as well, which was nice.
Gaya's present to me was a life size collage of me which now has pride of place pinned up on my bedroom door - as soon as I can get the equipment I shall take a photo. I'm not expecting anyone else to be impressed but I was :-) Chilly start to the morning, it's trying to snow but it's not quite getting it right and is a bit like soft drizzle, will gladly swap for any of the heat you're all moaning about back in SA. 17/02/06
Aaah a fresh, clean, belated start to the New Year. I've been the normal slack but that's been compounded by my back putting me out of commission since Nov. the disk slipped out a few times to much painful moaning, this then aggravated the nerves and muscles and my back went into Spasm just before Xmas resulting in a quiet festive period spent flat on my back. I'm nearly back to normal now but still suffering from the Sciatic nerve that is still misbehaving.
So ummmm, yes, Hello again |
